National Workshop of Detecting Norovirus in Food Held in Xiamen City, Fujian Province
As outbreaks of foodborne diseases caused by Norovirus have increased in recent years in China, CFSA held a workshop of detecting Norovirus in Xiamen City, Fujian Province from April 14th to 16th, 2015, hoping to help update detecting technical personnel with new global advances in Norovirus detecting technology.
54 experts from CFSA and 31 provincial CDCs attended this workshop. The workshop was divided into two sessions: the theoretical session and the practical session. Experts from CFSA department of microbiology introduced recent developments in Norovirus detecting technology and the global situation of the monitoring of Norovirus outbreaks. They also offered instructions to workshop attendants on detecting Norovirus in oyster, vegetables and fruit in labs. This workshop has strengthened attendants’ laboratorial abilities, which would greatly help them solve problems in real laboratorial practices and standardize detecting process, offering technical support for future Norovirus detection.
